A dramatised reconstruction of four famous Scottish murder cases which took place within a square mile of the city of Glasgow.
Based on the book by JACK HOUSE 3: A Kiss, a Fond Embrace (1) by JOAN LINGARD with Gerda Stevenson (above) as Madeleine Smith
Lex Van Delden (above) as Emile L'Angelier and Born before her time, Madeleine Smith had all the profound physical passion supposed at that time not to exist in a ' 'nice' woman. When in 1855 Madeleine, daughter of an eminent architect, met Pierre Emile L'Angelier, an impoverished French clerk, their romance became one of the scandals of the time and ended as one of the most famous murder cases in the world.

A four-part series about American power, and challenges to it, in the Caribbean area.
'There is just no point if everybody is going to compromise every principle they believe in merely because some big neighbour might get vexed.' (Michael Manley, Prime Minister of Jamaica)
In 1974 Michael Manley proclaimed his government socialist. Henceforth, Jamaica would be a model for the Third World, despite the profound disapproval of the United States.
Six years later, the country is bankrupt. The factories are closed, the supermarket shelves empty, foreign currency reserves exhausted. The International Monetary Fund and foreign banks won't help unless Manley changes direction. He himself faces defeat by his pro-American opponents in elections later this year, already heralded by a wave of political killings.
Did the United States, as Manley claims, 'destabilise' Jamaica's economy? Or have his own policies and his alliance with Cuba's Castro led the island to bankruptcy and the brink of a communist take-over? Bernard Falk reports.
