The 1969 campaign for the Presidency of the Miners' Union in America culminated with the challenger Jock Yablonski, his wife and daughter being assassinated. These brutal murders shocked America and allegations of official union connivance are still being investigated by the FBI. It is against this background that another candidate for presidency has now come forward. For 24 years Arnold Miller won coal from the seams of West Virginia. Now he's trying to win justice for the coal-miner and for the thousands of widows and pensioners who, he claims, have been chucked on the slag heap by their own union.
Julian Pettifer portrays Miller's struggle against a union which he sees as corrupt and inhuman - a struggle for which three people have already died.
