Dr Fred Freeman explores the life and work of Paisley weaver poet Robert Tannahill.

Anna is joined by Dr Fred Freeman in celebration of the life and work of Paisley weaver poet and songwriter Robert Tannahill during his 250th anniversary month.

A weaver by trade and a song-writer and poet by calling, Robert Tannahill of Paisley was born on the 3rd June 1774 and died, aged just 36, in 1810. Since the centenary edition of his works and festivities in Paisley in 1874, which drew crowds of 15,000 to celebrate his life and art, Robert Tannahill has been sadly neglected. It was with this in mind that Dr Fred Freeman, producer and musical director of the internationally acclaimed 'The Complete Songs of Robert Burns' embarked on his journey to produce The Complete Songs of Robert Tannahill. 18 years on from the first tribute album, all five volumes are complete with a 250th Anniversary concert at Celtic Connections earlier this year.

Dr Fred Freeman joins Anna to explore the life, work and ultimately tragic story of one of Scotland's finest and most daring song-writers and poets.
