Pat Nevin's spiritual life, Sports Chaplains and the power of communal moments.

The role of sports chaplains, the debate around ethical funding of book festivals, the power of communal cultural moments and football pundit Pat Nevin discusses his spiritual life.

With the Euros officially getting underway this Friday, Cathy is joined by the National Director of Sports Chaplaincy Scotland. He and Cathy discuss the role of the sports Chaplain; providing mental health support and spiritual care for sportsmen.    

Next week is Carers week, an annual campaign to raise awareness and challenges of unpaid carers. Reporter Michael McEwan talks to 24-year-old Maja Meldrum who has cared for her mum since she was 10. 

Football pundit Pat Nevin discusses his upbringing in the Catholic faith in this week's This Spiritual Life as well as his impressive football career, activism and where he finds meaning in this stage of his life.   

Cathy is also joined by David Goodman, a member of the Reformed Jewish faith, Rupa Mooker of the Scottish Sikh community and Ronnie Convery, Communications Director for the Archdiocese of Glasgow to discuss some of this week's big news stories.   

They’ll be reflecting on the ethical debate around funding of Scotland’s Book Festivals and the power of protest, the 75th anniversary of George Orwell’s 1984 and how accurate it has been in predicting the future and the value of communal moments like the D-Day Anniversary, the forthcoming Euros and the visit of a certain American pop star to these shores.
