With the International Court of Justice’s latest ruling that Israel must halt its military offensive in Rafah, Cathy Macdonald talks to Dr Henry Lovat, Senior Lecturer in International Law and Politics at the University of Glasgow, about the powers the ICJ and International Criminal Court hold, and what their rulings really mean.  

To what extent does class discrimination and misogyny still bar the path to success? Bestselling author and psychologist Dr Jessica Taylor joins Cathy to chat about her personal experiences in this regard, which she examines in her latest book, 'Underclass: A Memoir'.

Cathy delves into the spiritual life of the award-winning stand-up comedian and writer Shazia Mirza to explore her changing relationship to Islam and Catholicism as a child in Birmingham, and the inspiration for her wryly observational comedy.

This week’s Faith Forum guests are writer Rodge Glass who was raised in the Orthodox Jewish faith, Chair of Glasgow Film Theatre and Islamic scholar Yahya Barry, and Rosa Murray from University of Edinburgh’s Education Department and a member of the city’s Catholic community.

Up for discussion are the canonisation of computer prodigy Carlo Acutis, who died of leukaemia at the age of 15 in 2006. This week the Pope announced he would become the Catholic church’s first millennial saint. Dubbed ‘God’s influencer’, the trio discuss what this canonisation means for the younger generation of Catholics and young people’s engagement in faith as a whole.

With this year’s Celebration Day just passed, the panel looks at the relatively new national day established to remember lost loved ones and acknowledge those that have shaped and inspired us. 

And they discuss the moving and slightly eerie film, A House in Jerusalem, which explores memory, loss and trauma, against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
