Ties deteriorated badly under the previous Australian government

Li Qiang was given a warm welcome by the Australian prime minister, Anthony Albanese. The pair held talks and signed a number of agreements.

Australian and Chinese  prime ministers meet for high level talks in Canberra. As ties between the countries seem to be improving since the Labour party took power, differences still remain.
