Paramedics in Inverness cope with queues at A&E and a suspected assault.

An ambulance in Inverness attends to a woman found injured on the street, and paramedics race by helicopter to a Scottish island to help a young boy with suspected meningitis.

In this episode, we follow an Inverness ambulance crew as they race to attend to a distraught woman who is hurt following a suspected assault. Another crew in Inverness is called to a frail, 95-year-old woman who is weak after having been ill with diarrhoea and vomiting.

Elsewhere, an air ambulance crew is called to a young patient on the Isle of Cumbrae who may have meningitis. They must get him to hospital as soon as possible so that he can be tested for the potentially dangerous infection.

In Edinburgh, a special operations response team navigates busy traffic to get to the site of a crash involving a motorbike and a car. Meanwhile, at the ambulance control centre in South Queensferry, call handler Chloe provides step-by-step instructions to help someone experiencing an allergic reaction. She must also obtain all the information she needs to organise help for an intoxicated patient who keeps falling.
