Lewis loves drag and proves he is proud to be different.

The personal journey of 14-year-old Lewis, who has a passion for drag and is putting on a show called Proud to be Different.

Following the personal journey of 14-year-old Lewis, who has a passion for drag, from the make-up and wigs to the flamboyant costumes and lip sync routines.

After years of bullying and a prolonged and difficult estrangement from his biological dad, Lewis has finally found the strength to be confident in his own skin.

Realising he is lucky to have the support of friends and family, Lewis decides to put on a show called Proud to be Different, where he will perform as Athena Heart and raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity that supports young gay people who aren’t accepted.

Lewis calls on his huge family to help put on the event – Gran makes his costume, sister Mariah does the choreography, sister Gemma helps with the publicity, stepdad Dale helps with the music, and Mum is there for constant support.

As well as incredible dancers and singers, Lewis invites his friend Josh, who also has a drag persona, to perform. Josh - aka Jupes - has only performed in his bedroom before and isn’t sure whether he will have the confidence to show his drag to the world.

During this journey Lewis realises that while things haven’t worked out as he wanted with his biological dad, he is incredibly lucky to have a male role model in his stepdad, Dale.
