The first of a series celebrating Sassy’s centenary.

In the first of a series of tributes celebrating the centenary of “Sassy” Sarah Vaughan, piano player Joe Webb and his Trio perform a cover of Sometimes I’m Happy at Maida Vale.

To mark what would have been the 100th birthday of singer Sarah Vaughan, this month Jamie is celebrating the legacy of one of jazz’s most influential singers. He’ll be playing a selection of tracks, both classics and deeper cuts, from her enormous catalogue, and inviting some leading contemporary artists to record special covers of songs made famous by Vaughan.

Jamie gets the ball rolling himself – collaborating with Welsh pianist Joe Webb and his Trio. Together they perform a cover of Sometimes I'm Happy at the BBC's Maida Vale studios. 

Plus, there's music from Kenny Drew, Okvsho, Jasmine Myra, Dusty Springfield, Chris McGregor’s Brotherhood of Breath, Blue Lab Beats and more!
