Tony Hadley kicks off week two of Radio 2 Piano Room Month, from BBC Maida Vale studios.

Starting off the second week of Radio 2’s Piano Room Month, former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley performs alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra from Maida Vale.

With Tony's unmistakable voice driving them, Spandau Ballet were one of the most successful pop acts of the Eighties - 23 hit singles including 'Gold' and 'Through The Barricades', and 20 million albums sold worldwide. As a solo performer Tony's continued to enjoy huge success, and next month he heads out on 'The Big Swing Tour', playing right around the UK. Tony will perform some of the greatest swing songs from a classic era of music, covering songs by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

Plus poet John Cooper Clarke is Vernon’s guest this week on Tracks Of My Years. ‘The Bard of Salford’ rose to prominence as a performance poet in the late 70s, performing alongside punk and post-punk acts like the Sex Pistols, Joy Division and Buzzcocks. He’s since released 7 albums, 2 poetry collections and performed his poetry in theatres and festivals the world over.

John’s latest poetry collection ‘What’ is released on 8th February and coincides with his 2024 national theatre tour celebrating 50 years of showbiz. The ‘Get Him While He’s Alive’ tour will see John performing all around the country, taking fans on a one-of-a-kind journey through poetry and comedy.

John's first two tracks are from Rosemary Clooney and Frank Sinatra.
