As Scotland toasts to the lads and the lassies on Burns Night this Thursday, Cathy discusses the influence of Burns on modern day Scots.  With Scottish playwright and author Alan Bissett and Scotland’s very own Scriever, Susi Briggs. 

For the first time in its 25 year history, the Scottish Parliament had a ‘Time for Reflection’ from a Pagan. Rev Linda Haggestone tells Cathy about the experience, what this means for wider acceptance and understanding.

Talking about bereavement is not always easy, especially when the circumstances around death remain a mystery. Author and co-founder of the Sandpiper Trust Claire Maitland joins Cathy to chat about her new book The Swallow, The Owl, The Sandpiper... and The Little Red Robin, hoping to make the subject a little easier for comforting the bereaved.

As this Sunday marks World Religion Day, President of FaithInvest, Martin Palmer, and academic Mona Siddiqui sit down with Cathy to ask questions about the state of organised religion on a global scale, and what difference geography makes when it comes to its influence on the world stage.

With the recent opening of Scotland’s newest mosque in Arbroath this month, Cathy meets co-founders and trustees Adil and Mohammed Naseem to chat about getting the building ready from the ground up, and the benefits it will bring to the burgeoning population of recently arrived Muslim refugees to the area.

Throughout January, speculation around former US President Donald Trump becoming the Republican Party’s next candidate for the White House has been growing day by day. Cathy is joined by Elizabeth Bomberg, Professor of Politics at the University of Edinburgh, and former Evangelical preacher Jared Stacy to debate the importance of the Evangelical Christian vote this time around.
