Hilary Kay is intrigued by sporting memorabilia with a link to Hibernian football club, and she’s stunned to see an extensive collection of rare clothing by fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who died in 2010.

Mark Smith is moved by a serviceman’s photographs of the aftermath of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in the Second World War. And Gordon Foster is thrilled to see several pieces of silver connected with an ancient royal ritual that continues to this day, including water to wash the hands of the monarch, prompting one of the highest valuations of the current series.
