UN Security Council seeks humanitarian pauses in Gaza

BBC World Service - Newsday, UN Security Council seeks humanitarian pauses in Gaza

The 15-member body approved the Malta-sponsored draft.

Resolution was adopted by 12 votes in favour, zero against and three abstentions – Russia, the US and UK.

Both Israel and the Palestinians have criticised and condemned the first UN Security Council resolution to call for humanitarian pauses in the conflict in Gaza.

US president Joe Biden has described his talks in San Francisco with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, as the most constructive and productive they have had.  

And Starbucks faces walkout at hundreds of coffeehouses in the US.
