The leaders will try to stabilise economic, trade and investment relations

The US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping will sit down to talk for the first time in a year.

The US President Joe Biden is meeting Chinese leader Xi Jinping in California today in what some commentators are seeing as a key diplomatic moment for the superpower's relations. It's the first time in a year that they've met for talks. 

Some are hoping that it may ease friction over things like military conflicts, drug-trafficking and artificial intelligence. The BBC understands the leaders are set to announce a crackdown on the manufacture and export of fentanyl out of China. What other agreements might the leaders of the world’s two largest economies reach?
