Today, they hear from American singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant, who shares her 'First, Last and Everything' - that’s the first record she owned, the most recent one she’s enjoyed and the record that means ‘everything’ to her.

Merchant, who has been making music for over four decades, started her career at 17 as the frontwoman of alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs. She left the band in 1993 to pursue a solo career, releasing her debut solo album ‘Tigerlily’ in 1995.

Her new album, ‘Keep Your Courage’, is her first in 9 years. It features contributions from Celtic folk group Lúnasa, Syrian virtuoso clarinettist Kinan Azmeh and jazz trombonist Steve Davis. Merchant shares her musical enthusiasms and discusses her new music.
