For years, comedians Janey Godley and her daughter Ashley Storrie have been working as self-employed stand-up comics, which is about as far away from a nine-to-five job as you can get. Now, they are going head-to-head to prove they have what it takes to get a real job as they are thrown in at the deep end of a variety of workplaces across Scotland.
From working on a farm and airport to trying out life on a factory line and a construction site, this is the first time in a long while that they have to answer to a boss. At the end of their shift, their boss decides who will win the ‘best employee’ trophy and who will have one last awful job to do. As they face making cheese, operating machinery, putting out fires and brushing up on their customer service, we find out who really can cut it outside the comedy circuit.
In this episode, Janey and Ashley get to grips with working on a farm that also produces its own ice cream and cheese. Janey starts off with a physically demanding job in a hot room making cheese, and she is really pushed to the edge when she has to work in the deep freeze at -18c. Meanwhile, Ashley embraces the challenge of milking a whole herd of cows - but is it enough to secure the 'best employee' trophy and avoid cleaning out the milking parlour once the cows have all gone?
