Mary Douglas is reunited with her indifferent mother. But then she meets Mrs Lennox.

Mary Douglas is reunited in Bath with her indifferent mother and twin sister. But then meets Mrs Lennox. Stars Meg Fraser.

Now a teenager, Mary Douglas is reunited in Bath with her indifferent mother, Lady Juliana, and capricious twin sister, Adelaide. 

She is befriended by elderly Mrs Lennox, whose much-loved son returns from a long stay abroad.  

Starring Meg Fraser and Fiona Francis. 

Edinburgh-born novelist Susan Edmonstone Ferrier [1782 – 1854] was noted for her sharp, witty accounts of Scottish life, reflecting views on the social mores of the time, and the relationship between the Scots and the English. 

Her comedic first novel, ‘Marriage’, was written in 1810 and much revised before its publication in 1818.
