Elton doesn’t always discuss all his songs, often leaving descriptions about the most personal ones, like Tiny Dancer and Sacrifice, to his long term musical partner and lifelong friend Bernie Taupin.

Elton and Bernie have been composing together, in separate rooms and often at great speed, for more than 50 years, creating sales of more than 30 million albums and songs known the world over. You will hear many of those and some rare insights into their creation and meaning in this special collection of Elton’s interviews at the BBC. The classics including Rocket Man, Candle in the Wind, Your Song, Bennie and the Jets and I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues, as well as a beautiful hidden gem from the Tumbleweed Connection album. 

Elton is always great value in his chats with presenters including Ken Bruce, Johnnie Walker, Richard Skinner, Andy Peebles, Steve Wright, Bobbie Pryor, Zoe Ball, Greg James and Paul Gambaccini. 

Highlights include the inside stories on the first time he heard Rocket Man on the radio, stumping Bob Geldof about the identity of the singer on Blue Eyes, the pinnacle of his career when Cary Grant met him backstage at Dodger Stadium and how he performed his recent Cold Heart duet with Dua Lipa live, for the first time, when he was a customer at a beach bar in the south of France.
