Cerys hand-picks you an eclectic Sunday soundtrack with West African balafon player Kimi Djabaté performing live in session.

Kimi Djabaté is from a village in Guinea-Bissau which is known for it's griots, hereditary singer-poets which go back hundreds of years. Coming from a family of musicians, Kimi was given his first balafon at the age of three and began performing at weddings when he was eight. He studied the kora a few years later and plays a range of percussion. Now based in Lisbon, he released his fourth album Dindin this year blending Afro-Portuguese rhythms with Afrobeat grooves, electric desert blues and hints of Afro-Latin swing. Kimi is in the UK to perform at the Africa Oye festival in Liverpool, the UK’s largest free celebration of African music and culture.
