Possibly best known for his role as DCI Gene Hunt in BBC1’s Life on Mars, and its sequel Ashes to Ashes, Philip’s stellar CV includes State of Play, Clocking Off,  Minder and Silent Witness.

His latest venture  sees him returning to police work in new true crime BBC drama Steeltown Murders, which has just begun its run on BBC1. Based on a true story, the four part drama centres on the hunt to catch a killer in the Port Talbot area. 

Philip's first two choices are from The Monkees and Morcambe and Wise.
