As the Royal Philharmonic Society announces its shortlist for the 2023 awards, Sean Rafferty talks to some of the artists nominated this year. First with members of Manchester Collective, nominated for the RPS Ensemble Award: Rakhi Singh, co-founder of the group and lead violinist, Alice Zawadzki, vocalist, songwriter and composer, and Bruno Heinen, pianist and composer. Together they perform live in the studio, ahead of the UK tour of Zawadzki's new work, 'Bag of Bones'. Sean also talks to the Royal Philharmonic Society's Chief Executive, James Murphy, before he welcomes star mezzo-soprano and Grammy-Award winner Lucy Schaufer, who also performs live on In Tune tonight, after she has been shortlisted for the RPS Singer Award this year.
