US Treasury announces extraordinary measures to prevent default

The US Treasury says it is taking emergency action to avoid a default after the US government reached its debt limit.

The US Treasury says it's taking "extraordinary measures" after the federal government reached its borrowing limit of $31.4 trillion to pay its debts.
