The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra perform Sibelius's Fifth Symphony, Göteborg Baroque play cantatas by JS Bach, and Gabriel Schwabe performs Elgar's Cello Concerto.

Penny Gore introduces repertoire by BBC ensembles as well as music by ensembles from across Europe, including Sibelius's Symphony No. 5 with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, under conductor Tarmo Peltokoski, who selects a piece for today's programme in our Artist's Choice. Also, a selection of arias and chorales from JS Bach's cantatas performed Göteborg Baroque; Christian Cannabich's Symphony No. 1 with Das Neue Mannheimer Orchester; and Gabriel Schwabe as soloist in Elgar's Cello Concerto with the Ulster Orchestra, conducted by Angus Webster.
