Mark visits Stonehaven Harbour with Ellen Renouf, co-founder of the Stonehaven Sea Salt Company. Ellen explains the process of collecting seawater, and reveals how it is turned into a delightful gourmet sea salt.

Rachel walks the banks of the River Deveron, chatting with Karen Muller from the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative. They discuss an ongoing plot to use sheep to combat Giant Hogweed growth in Aberdeenshire.

Mark travels to Benmore Botanic Garden to meet curator Peter Baxter. They talk about what is in store for the gardens, as they close their gates for the winter months. 

Still at Benmore, Mark explores the Puck’s Hut with David Gray, author of ‘The Story of Puck’s Hut’. Together, they discuss the legacy of ninth Regius Keeper, Sir Isaac Bayley Balfour, who died nearly 100 years ago.

After an exciting development is revealed at the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve in Dumfriesshire, we are joined by Angela Williams, from The Langholm Initiative, for a chat about community buyouts.

The Mountain Hare Survey is back for another year, and as volunteers step forward to scan the Highlands for Mountain Hares, we chat with Dr Mark Wilson, the person responsible for running the survey. 

Rachel’s been talking to Professor Sarah Pedersen from Robert Gordon University about a project called Quinepedia- a new biographical dictionary of North East women, who have gone unrecognised in spite of their valuable contributions to society.
