Gary West looks ahead to this year’s Glenfiddich Piping Championships to be held at the end of the month in the historic surroundings of Blair Castle in Highland Perthshire. There’s news from the recent piping contests at the Royal National Mod in Perth, solo piping sets from Jack Lee and Craig Sutherland, music from the reigning world pipe band champions and a double helping from a rare 1962 album from one of the great Canadian players of his generation, Bill Gilmour.
