The 1970s was dominated by male artists, but it also saw some great female artists having chart success. Tonight let's celebrate music from the female hitmakers of the 70s.

The 1970s seemed to be dominated by male artists – only 2 females appeared in the Top 20 for September 50 years ago. But it was a decade that also saw some of the best female artists of all time having successful careers, including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Nicks, Olivia Newton John and Patti Smith. So tonight let’s celebrate music from the women of the ‘70s.
