Euan visits Barassie beach in South Ayrshire, one of Scotland’s 87 official bathing sites, as designated by SEPA. He explores the work SEPA are doing in terms of monitoring the water quality in Scotland’s designated bathing areas.

In our Scotland Outdoors podcast, Helen Needham created a Slow Radio soundscape with recordings collected from Fair Isle. We hear a binaural extract of Helen climbing down into a geo.

Mark meets Pete Moore from Nature Scot, to learn about ‘Monkshood’, a poisonous plant species found on some of Scotland’s trails.

Euan travels to Wemyss Cave, where the Wemyss Ancient Caves Society have been awarded funding to build a fence to prevent further vandalism to their Pictish carvings.

We are joined by Malcolm Combes, author of ScotWays Guide to the Law of Access to Land in Scotland, to take a comparative look into how Scotland’s Right of Responsible Access compares with England’s access laws. 

Helen dives into a Silent Bat Rave, speaking with artist, composer and performer Hanna Tuulikki about her project, Echo in the Dark, which turns the echolocation calls of bats into dance music. 

Mark tries his hand as a mycologist, meeting with mushroom grower Debbie Lester of Fit For Fungus, in Aberdeenshire, and observing the fruiting process involved in growing gourmet mushrooms.
