Denise Mina on her latest book, Confidence, and the role of doubt in faith; what would happen if A.I. could feel? And the role of integrity in leadership.

Last year Pope Francis announced the launch of a synod, the beginning of a global conversation on the nature of the Catholic Church. We hear about the response from three Scottish Catholics; Rosa Murray from the Scottish Laity Network, historian Sara Parvis, who has been collating results for the St Andrews and Edinburgh diocese, and Law post graduate Jamie McGowan.

Denise Mina is known for her prowess as a crime writer. However, in her latest thriller, Confidence, she ventures into holy waters, exploring some religious themes including the role doubt plays in faith. 

In the aftermath of the political storm that hit Westminster, culminating in the resignation of the Prime Minister, freelance equality consultant Dr Sally Witcher,  Rosa Murray, Deputy Head of Institute for Education, Teaching & Leadership at the University of Edinburgh, and Rabbi Pete Tobias discuss the role integrity plays in leadership. 

Ian Bradley , Emeritus Professor of Cultural and Spiritual History at University of St Andrews, tells Connie about the paths that were once specifically used to carry the bodies of the dead; the subject of his latest book, Coffin Roads. 

And what if machines could think or feel? Connie is joined by Henry Shevlin, from the University of Cambridge's Centre for the Future of Intelligence, and Theo Priestley,  futurologist and author of The Future Starts Now, to consider how we will have to respond to the possibility of sentient AI.
