The Tiree Wave Classic is held on the island, and we visit the island of Lunga.

The Tiree Wave Classic is held on the island, we visit the island of Lunga with Frazer and Donnie and take a trip to Skerryvore, the tallest lighthouse in the UK.

Tiree is the most westerly island in the Inner Hebrides.  It’s approximately 12 miles long, five miles wide and has a population of around 650. Surrounded by sandy beaches and with an abundance of birds and wildlife, it’s a popular destination for summer visitors. The exposed location on the Atlantic also makes it a favourite place for windsurfers and the Tiree Wave Classic, the longest running professsional windsurfing event in the world, is held on the island every autumn.

Filmed over a six-month period in 2019, the programmes follow the stories of “Tiristich”, Tiree islanders, as we find out what it’s like to live and work on the island. In the final programme of the series, the Tiree Wave Classic is held on the island, we visit the island of Lunga with Frazer and Donnie and take a trip to Skerryvore, the tallest lighthouse in the UK.
