In a new series for Radio 2 to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, six well-known guests discuss the songs which have helped them through challenging or significant moments in their lives. They talk through their choices with presenter Edith Bowman and, in doing so, the series explores how music has the power to comfort, heal and inspire us all - and the positive impact it can have on our wellbeing.

In this first episode, Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody and Under the Banner of Heaven star Daisy Edgar-Jones share their selections.

In a candid conversation with Edith about the music which has helped him through tough times, Gary’s choices include Something In The Way by Nirvana, Indiscriminate Acts Of Kindness by Foy Vance, California Soul by Marlena Shaw, and Pink + White by Frank Ocean - one of which he reveals as the song that may very well have saved his life; and the U2 classic – One – is a track he'll forever associate with his late dad.

Daisy shares her unlikely first break-up song and the album she always turns to when she's feeling blue in a selection which includes Blue Monday by New Order, Never Too Much by Luther Vandross, Let's Stay Together by Al Green and I Wanna Be Adored by Stone Roses.
