Josie d’Arby and Karim Zeroual are at the Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry to shine a spotlight on dance from around the UK.
Dance Passion celebrates dance in all its forms and features performances from both established and grass roots dance companies. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are all represented in this showcase of British Dance.
In this programme:
- House of Ghetto and House of Suarez represent Manchester’s Vogue scene;
- In Cardiff, National Dance Company Wales perform an excerpt from Ludo, choreographed by Caroline Finn;
- From Scottish Ballet we have Starstruck, Gene Kelly’s love letter to Ballet;
- Together we Fall: A beautiful duet from Northern Ballet’s Heather Lehan and Jonathan Hanks;
- We drop in to Sadler’s Wells in London for a workshop by Candoco Dance Company
- And Leamington Spa-based Motionhouse bring their unique blend of athletic physicality and powerful storytelling with an extract from their latest show, Nobody.
Also featured are three specially commissioned films:
- From Northern Ireland comes Flight by Jennifer Rooney and Ciaran Haggerty. A young hero-in-the-making attempts to defy gravity through the power of imagination and dance;
- Cardigan Bay in Wales is the setting for Amser / Time by Light, Ladd, Emberton. The stunning location provides the backdrop for a performance reflecting on climate change and the impact of people;
- Dance Race’ from Corey Baker, a thrilling race like you’ve never seen before with everything from classical ballet and Strictly Come Dancing to choreographed skydiving and precision driving.
