Andrew Mackinnon is in Spain where a government minister recently called for Spaniards to eat less meat. Spain is one of the biggest meat-eating countries in the world and there has been a backlash from the country’s farmers over the comments while  large-scale farming has been criticised for its environmental impact. Annabel Maclennan reports from Italy on the country’s declining birth rate and whether recent government initiatives will be enough to reverse the trend.
