In 2018 Derek MacKay was in Greece looking at the issue of unaccompanied child refugees arriving in Europe after fleeing conflict in other parts of the world. In 2016 there was controversy in Iceland about plans to build an electricity network through some of the country’s most environmentally significant areas; and, with war ongoing in Ukraine, a report from 2014 when armed pro-Russian rebels in the east of the country were engaged in a conflict with the aim of breaking away from Ukraine.
