The new Highway Code comes into force at midnight, and creates what it’s calling a new ‘hierarchy of road users’ aimed at improving road safety for people walking, cycling and riding horses. It means pedestrians get priority at junctions and zebra crossings, and cyclists will be able to ride in the middle of the road - with the onus on motorists to protect the "most vulnerable" road users. Are you across the changes? Are you a walker, cyclist, horse rider – will this make you feel safer? What sort of problems do cars cause you and how will this help? And after 10, the RSPB’S annual Big Garden Birdwatch is back. We’re all being asked to choose an hour between today and Sunday to count the birds you see land in your garden, or maybe on your window feeder or balcony, or even your local park.
