The search begins for the best School Soloists from across Northern Ireland, as Kerry McLean welcomes pupils to sing in the first Primary and Senior Secondary school heats

Kerry McLean welcomes pupils From across Northern Ireland to Blackstaff House in Belfast as the search begins for BBC Northern Ireland School Soloist of the Year 2022. 

There are three categories in this year’s competition, with Primary (P5 to P7, inclusive), Junior Secondary (Year 8 to 11, inclusive) and Senior Secondary (Year 12 to 14, inclusive).

This week we hear singers in the first of three Primary and first of six Senior Secondary heats, with two from each making it through to the semi-finals.

Primary School Heat 1:
Molly Noade from St Malachy's Primary School in Newry.
Holly Mountstephens from Dromore Central Primary School.
Jarlaith Mervyn from Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School, Dunmurry.
Drew Devlin from St Teresa's Primary School, Lurgan. 
Yvie McShane - Broadbridge Primary School, Eglinton.

Senior Secondary School Heat 1:
Rebekah Dempsey from St Louise's College in Belfast.
Hannah McCann from Rathmore Grammar School, Dunmurry.
Aoibh Logue from St Cecilia's College, Derry.
Leah Radcliffe from Banbridge Academy.
Sinead McGowan from Loreto Grammar School, Omagh.
