He describes growing up with his family in Vale of Leven, moving to a monastic setting in the Midlands, and working in Accra before returning to Scotland to work in the Gorbals. He talks movingly about his first love for a fellow novice monk, meeting and marrying his wife Jean, having family and their chaotic but enriching life at Old St Paul’s in Edinburgh.
