Romesh Ranganathan brings his love, knowledge and passion of hip hop to BBC Radio 2. This week Romesh provides a whistle-stop tour of the UK hip hop scene to date!

In episode 1, Romesh explores his love for the genre that has shaped his life. He explains how it all started from discovering a Public Enemy cassette, to his teenage self watching Salt-n-Pepa at Crawley Leisure Centre. 

In each episode Romesh takes a deep dive into a hip hop topic, so tonight he explores his passion for UK hip hop, taking listeners on a whistle stop tour of the British scene to date. 

With a playlist packed with tracks that have shaped Romesh’s life, he plays classics from Missy Elliot and A Tribe Called Quest, plus some mainstream crossover hits that have finally got his kids listening to it - with tracks from Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion. 

Along the way Romesh reveals how his obsession for the genre often gets the better of him and leaves him looking anything but cool!
