Flat Out Fabulous is a unique makeover show for Generation Rent. You don’t have to own your own home for our stylish yet thrifty interior designer to come knocking. Whinnie Williams is a design queen who dares to be different, and she believes that if housemates clubbed together and rolled their sleeves up, for just the cost of a big night out you can boujee up your living room and transform it into a sick pad. Whinnie and her co-host Tyler West are passionate about showing that home renovations don’t have to cost a fortune – you can have that million-pound look for less. Scouring vintage shops, online auctions and with loads of smart upcycling and decorating tips, she’s about to share how anyone can do it.
Whinnie and Tyler are in sunny Salford meeting seven students who are desperate to give their digs a new lease of life. Elliot, Jemima, Toby, Charlie, Max, Anna and Stan are the ultimate pranksters. They love hanging out together but don’t have the right space for it. The living room lacks personality and is a bit grim. Second-hand red sofas that they all hate, a mouldy jug and a tired old coffee table is the current vibe in the room, and these renters are hoping the queen of thrift can come in and work her magic, all for the cost of a big night out. The housemates want a space where they can drink with their friends, watch movies and chill out. Can Whinnie cater to seven different styles and tastes? The one thing they all agree on is their love of neutral tones, but there’s nothing neutral about Whinnie Williams, so she’s ignoring their ideas and is injecting a bit of colour into their lives. She’s bringing in a Roaring Twenties cinema theme with snakeskin wallpaper and a gold ceiling. There’s a snack station fireplace, a lush teal velvet sofa and cinema seats. And she’s getting the housemates involved too: upcycling a coffee table with gold leaf, dyeing a second hand rug and creating her own version of an expensive gold palm leaf standing lamp. Some of the housemates are struggling to see how Whinnie’s vision will come together, especially as she’s pranking them into thinking all is not as it seems! Show less
