The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival kicks off on Friday. We hear from jazz vocalist and songwriter performing at the festival, Luca Manning, and Festival Producer Fiona Alexander

We hear all about the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, which kicks off on Friday, from Festival Producer Fiona Alexander and jazz vocalist and songwriter performing at the festival, Luca Manning. 

Singer Nina Nesbitt takes on the notoriously fiendish Getting To Know You challenge.  

As Irvine Beach plays host to Signal On Sea, a large-scale environmental sound installation as part of the Cryptic festival, we speak to the Dutch duo Strijbos & Van Rijswijk who have created it and last staged it on a glacier in the Alps. 

Every year the Scottish Poetry Library selects twenty of the best Scottish poems for their online anthology. Colin Waters from the library tells us more about the twenty that have made the grade this year. 
 
And last week a metal detectorist found what seems to be a 17th Century posy ring in a Scottish field. We’ll hear the story of the find, and then speak to Emily Freeman, the Head of the Treasure Trove Unit, which is the first port of call for new discoveries, to hear what it takes for a found historical object to make it into one of Scotland’s museums.
