There’s news of two new opportunities for Ulster-Scots writers, a look at the meaning and history of names, and a short course for the young in exploring culture and identity.

A local academic refers to it as a ‘renaissance’ in Ulster-Scots writing and new books are emerging almost weekly.  For those keen to expressing themselves in print, there’s information on this week’s Kintra about two new opportunities; a Journal seeking contributions and a competition at the Linenhall Library – both aimed at good Ulster-Scots prose and poetry.  David Gilliland from the Ulster-Scots Community Network chats about the Journal, while Dr Frank Ferguson from Ulster University is one of the judges for the Linenhall Library’s competition.
