School meal and uniform grant eligibility, insurance deal top tips, ONSIDE volunteering project; an initiative for people with disabilities and saving patterns with Ipsos MORI. 

As many people may have felt lonely and isolated in the past year, the use of the internet to keep connected has been a lifeline. Volunteers’ with ONSIDE, a cross border project, have been ‘Unlocking the Internet in Lockdown’ for people with disabilities. Elaine Roub, Peer Volunteer Co-Ordinator of the project chats to Linda, alongside Nigel Flynn, who has found it to be a lifeline.

School might not be out for Summer yet, but it is important to look ahead to the new term in September, and whether your child is eligible for free school meals or a uniform grant. Frances Meehan of EANI, discusses the application process. 

Scott Kennerly, head of Financial Services at the Consumer Council, shares tips on shopping around for home and car insurance, and why loyal customers sometimes don’t get a better deal. 

Recent research by the pollsters Ipsos MORI, for the UK Consumer Insight Panel which was been formed to help the UK recover in the wake of both Brexit and the pandemic, shows lockdown has flipped the nation’s priorities when it comes to spending and savings. CEO of Ipsos MORI Ben Page discusses this with Linda. 

Plus, listener Joe came to On Your Behalf, after he had his Senior Smartpass for bus travel was refused in the South of Ireland. Linda asks Alan Parker, Chief Customer Officer for Bus Éireann, to shed light on this situation.
