Musician Rab Noakes on Dylan at 80;  Jaimini Jethwa and her play 'Hindu Times'

An alternative experience at the COP 26 later this year with a Glasgow homestay initiative; and the new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland,  Jim Wallace.

Glasgow will be in the spotlight later this year when it hosts COP 26. Cathy finds out what’s been learnt from previous years and how one local organisation is trying to encourage visitors to experience some Glasgow hospitality by staying with a local family. With Kat Jones from Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, and Bishop Philip Huggins, of the Anglican Church of Australia and a veteran of COP gatherings.

Bob Dylan turns 80 this month, an ever-present force in the world of music and a huge influence on a range of musicians and artists. One of them is songwriter and producer, Rab Noakes, who picks four songs from Bob Dylan’s back catalogue that have been the soundtrack to his life. 

A new play looks at disability issues from different generations comparing their experiences. It premiers this month at Imaginate, the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival. Cathy will be joined by writer and performer Robert Softley Gale and producer Mairi Taylor to talk about The Super Special Disability Roadshow. 

From Deputy First Minister to the new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; the Rt Hon Lord Wallace of Tankerness QC - better known by many as Jim Wallace -  will join Cathy on only his second day in the job to talk about the most pressing issues the national church is facing in the year ahead.

One year on from the Black Lives Matter protests, is our greater awareness of racism strong enough to create lasting equality? With Scotland-based French journalist Assa Samake-Roman, nurse and campaigner Florence Joseph, and migrant women’s mentor Vicky Nyanga.

Jaimini Jethwa talks about her latest play, Hindu Times, in which the Hindu gods Vishnu and Brahma arrive in Dundee to restore balance and reunite with the goddess Lakshmi.
