A successful musician from South Sudan shares his memories of surviving civil war

South Sudanese DJ, producer and recording artist Dynamq tells DJ Edu about his terrifying escape from the civil war in southern Sudan when he was a child.

Dynamq is a rare thing – a successful musician from South Sudan. He’s a DJ, producer and recording artist who fell in love with reggae and dancehall music from Jamaica in a refugee camp in Kenya. In this edition of TIA, Dynamq tells DJ Edu about his terrifying escape from the civil war in southern Sudan when he was a child, and about his efforts to find and create a South Sudanese sound.  

DJ Edu also has new tunes from Cameroon, Mozambique and Mali in his 10 in 10 African music mix.
