One police officer has been killed, another wounded and the suspect shot dead

A car crashed into a security barrier before the driver lunged towards two officers with a knife, killing one and wounding the other. The suspect was shot dead.

An attack at the US Capitol complex in Washington DC has left one police officer dead and another in hospital with injuries. A car crashed into a security barrier before the driver lunged towards the officers with a knife. The officers opened fire and the suspect was shot dead. We get the latest from the BBC's Larry Maduwo, who's in DC. Also in the programme, the US economy added almost a million new jobs in March, though employment remains well below pre-pandemic levels, as the BBC's Samira Hussain explains.
