A frank and honest chat with Indie singer and former X Factor finalist Janet Devlin.

In 2011 Janet Devlin was a finalist on The X Factor.  In conversation with Steven Rainey, she explains that behind the fame she has always struggled with her mental health.

To the millions of viewers tuning in every Saturday night to The X Factor Janet Devlin had it all.  But behind the lights and cameras was a 16-year-old girl who’d already had a lifetime struggling with poor mental health.  
Ten years on, the Indie singer songwriter tells Radio Ulster’s Steven Rainey how depression and anxiety have clouded her short life, leading at times to self-harm, alcoholism, drug abuse and anorexia. 
Newspaper headlines exposed a downward spiral as the young star battled with her inner demons. 
In this frank and intimate conversation, the County Tyrone woman reveals how music has always been her refuge and how, now aged 26 she is facing the future with hope.
