Steve heads to the rainforest in Ecuador in search of some of the deadliest critters.

Steve heads to the Amazon rainforest in search of some of the deadliest critters on earth. From deadly snakes to freaky spiders, this episode may leave you hiding behind the sofa!

The rainforests of Ecuador are some of the most diverse on earth, brimming with all kinds of unique and weird species that are found nowhere else, with some of the most deadly animals on earth lurking in the shadows.

Steve and the team head to Sani Lodge in the Amazon rainforest in search of some deadly critters. Steve has been fascinated with snakes his whole life, and the rainforests here are the perfect place to go on the search for them. And there is one in particular Steve is hoping to find, one of the most feared snakes on earth - the fer de lance. However, finding one won’t be easy in this dense jungle habitat, and with a number of fraudsters out to trick Steve, he could end up just finding an imposter. When Steve does finally find one, the location isn’t ideal. Steve also gets a surprise encounter with a caiman looking for a free meal and then goes on the search to see if he can find one of their favourite foods - the feisty piranha fish. Heading out with local fishermen, they find exactly what they were looking for. Steve shows off its deadly attributes - its infamous cookie cutter teeth.

The best time to see some of the deadly critters here is to head out at night. Steve heads out to discover which spider he thinks deserves his Deadly crown? First up, he finds a goliath bird-eating spider. These huge spiders are phenomenal predators, but what Steve witnesses is what caring mothers they are. Next up, he finds a whip spider. It looks incredibly creepy but actually isn’t that deadly unless you are an insect on which it preys.

Finally, Steve finds a spider that scares even him - the wandering spider. As one of the only animals on earth that could kill a human being, everyone has to have their wits about them while filming this spider.
