Jamie’s guest on the show this week is the LA-based vocalist, Lady Blackbird, who joins him for a Take 5 interview! 

One of the breakout voices of last year, she grabbed the jazz world’s attention with her debut single - a soulful, anguished take on Nina Simone’s classic Blackbird, a piece which the singer, real name Marley Munroe, took her artist name from.

A string of singles which showcase Lady Blackbird’s unique, powerful vocal style, have seen her called “the Grace Jones of jazz” and built anticipation for her forthcoming debut album, Black Acid Soul. The record, due this Spring, was made with Grammy-nominated producer Chris Seefried and with tracks recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound in Hollywood - it is set to make a big impact in 2021.

Lady Blackbird tells us about her first steps into jazz, her musical influences, the concerts which have shaped her and what she’s been creating lately.
