The government has agreed to insure care homes that take Covid patients from hospitals to relieve pressure on the NHS.

Care homes who take Covid patients from hospitals will now be insured by the Government. It means they can't be sued by relatives if someone catches Corona and dies in a care home setting. The Government had hoped around 500 care homes would take part in the scheme but they've fallen short of that target. We ask what that means for relatives and whether care homes are duty-bound to inform potential new residents that they're a designated Covid 'hot home'. 

Saga Holidays, the travel company for the over 50s, have today announced that customers can only travel if they've been vaccinated against Coronavirus. It comes as the largest tour operator, TUI, says half of the booking on its website are currently by over-50s - it's being dubbed "vaccine confidence". The UK Government is currently insisting that everyone returning to the country must show a Covid negative test within 72 hours of travelling back. So how easy is it going to be to get away this summer?

And we're eating more meat in the pandemic according to new research from the analysts Mintel.  Less than half of people now say they're limiting their intake of meat, down 10% on last year. It's because we're returning to more traditional comfort foods and are apparently less concerned about sustainability in the Covid era. Are you eating a bit more meat than you used to?
