New music from the Magpie Arc & Young Trad at 20 continues with Hannah Rarity

Adam Holmes & Alex Hunter join Bruce with a new EP from The Magpie Arc & our Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now series continues with 2018 Young Trad winner Hannah Rarity.

Formed as an idea amongst friends, then a get together for the obligatory studio jam, the musical possibilities of The Magpie Arc being something special and unique in today’s UK folk and Americana scene became obvious very quickly. The band features a stellar line-up - multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winning solo artists Nancy Kerr and Martin Simpson, solo artist and three time Scottish Album of the Year nominee Adam Holmes, musician and producer Tom A Wright and bass player Alex Hunter. Alex and Adam join Bruce live to chat about EP2, the second release of three from the cross-Border Folk/Americana band.

Plus, Bruce continues the Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now series - celebrating 20 years of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award by getting to know each of its previous winners. This week Scottish singer and 2018 champion, Hannah Rarity, joins Bruce in conversation - sharing memories of the night; how the competition has affected her career as a professional musician; and her musical influences along the way.
