Leading up to 6 Music’s All Day Rave on Monday 31st August, in celebration of what would have been the weekend of the annual Notting Hill Carnival, today’s guest is Marilyn Dennis aka Lady Banton, who co-founded Mellotone, the carnival’s first all-female sound system.  She has played Notting Hill Carnival for over 25 years and more recently formed Seduction City sound system.  

Marilyn chats to Mark and Stuart about carnival memories and her career in music and chooses a selection of classic tracks from artists including Bob Marley and Lila Iké. 

The 'warm up' show, including music, chat and Notting Hill Carnival news, is on air 8am to 10.30am and available to listen again to as a separate episode on BBC Sounds.
